Top Rated Minimalist Skincare Routine that won't break the bank

If you take it from social media you'd think that the best way to maintain younger looking skin is to undertake a complicated skin care routine especially if you wear makeup on a daily basis. There are definitely benefits to maintaining a regular skincare routine however many skincare products contain harsh chemicals that can be damaging to your skins barrier when overly used with harsh brushes and used more than necessary.

There are times when a simple skin care regimen will be more beneficial to the long term health of your skin.

In this blog we will share our skincare secrets, tips and favorite product recommendations.

Washing

Let's face it, a lot of us LOVE our makeup routines but when that's the case we have to put just as much effort into our makeup removal routines. Some primers, foundations, concealers, bronzers and blushes can be heavy, causing clogged pores, skin dryness or throw off your skins natural moisture. In this case it is very important to clean off all of those layers.

Makeup removing wipes

Our recommendation for removing makeup is to use disposable makeup removing wipes prior to using your cleansers. The reason we make this suggestion is that you aren't using a lot of your product to remove all of those layers.

After removing most if not all of the makeup you can then move on to using your cleanser of choice.

Towels

After cleansing use a soft towel to remove excess water from your skin by gently patting your skin with a damp disposable towel instead of a facecloth. Damp so that you don't dry out your skin completely, and disposable because cotton towels don't try quickly enough to prevent the growth of bacteria. Bacteria that you don't want to wipe onto your skin after washing it. Even using a freshly washed towel doesn't prevent issues because sometimes the towel is holding onto detergents or softeners used during the process of washing the towel. Most skin types are mildly to severely sensitive to the harsh detergents that we use on our laundry.

Serums

Serums are not recommended for all skin types, but it is beneficial to research and use the serums that your particular skin needs. If you deal with certain issues like acne, dark spots or other concerns there are serums that are meant for your specific skin type.

Moisturizers

Similarly to serums moisturizers are not one size fits all. It's best to do research on which type of moisturizer works best for your specific skin type.  Consider consulting with a dermatologist to determine the best moisturizer for your skin type.

Routine

It's beneficial to maintain a daytime and nighttime routine, but not essential to repeat the same steps every time. Avoid exfoliating your skin twice daily, and always include makeup removal in your evening regimen. Sleeping with makeup on can harm your skin and your pillows. Exfoliation should be performed on a less frequent basis because as we know we are removing dead skins cell during exfoliation and cell turnover doesn't occur continuously within a 24 hour period to the extent that those cells require brushing to remove. I opt for less often but please consult with your dermatologist or aesthetician.
